The Temper Trap, Conditions

The Temper Trap, although popular in UK, AUS and Europe, just had their debut album here on the states released on October 13th, 2009. And I couldn't WAIT! I recently heard their pop single on the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack (only on the soundtrack and trailer, not actually in the movie). I instantly fell in love. I search iTunes high and low, and no songs for sale! I had to ask some people at the local record store when they plan on releasing in the U.S. Luckily, I only had to wait a week.

Its been awhile since I've had an album full of talent and potential. The best way I can describe, is your waiting for Dougie (vocals) bring it on down, bring it on high or bring it on home...and he does it exactly where your ears are craving it. Auditory Extacy.

Love Lost is remninant of baseball organs, Earth, Wind & Fire, and some awesome falsetto. Personal favorite line "your walls are up/too cold to touch it/ your walls are up/too high to climb it"

Sweet Disposition, the 2nd track, is easy to picture where you would be listening to this. At night, in the middle of a busy city street, surrounded by zooming cars and people flying by you. Everything in the background on high speed, as your walking slow staring straight into the lense... Super catchy, I love it.

Fader, another great fave! Has potential for 2nd single on this album. "Talk don't change a thing" I can definitely see this blaring outside Emersons radio station on the Commons.

Rest, ohhhhhhhh baaaaay-baaaay. Nuff said.

The other tracks are great continuum of great creativity and harmonic balance. To compare, Dougie is what Cedric (The Mars Volta) USE to sound like circa Deloused in the Coma-Torium, except with coherent lyrics that you dont need to be on LSD to understand.

Some other genre mixed in, motown (but updated),a little electronic (for beats not much else), Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) roller coaster decibels, possible 70's rogue cop TV series opening credit music... Whats not to love?

Highly recommended. Catch'm while you can. They will be performing at Great Scott in Allston, MA on October 29th.
